Breakthrough Dog Food is a joint venture between Val Strong and OSCAR Pet Foods Ltd.
Both share a passion for animal welfare and behaviour, nutrition and responsible pet care. By combining Val’s expertise and research with the experience, quality and service standards of OSCAR, Breakthrough Dog Food is ideally placed to produce and deliver this revolutionary new dog food.
Val StrongMSc Companion Animal Behaviour
Val Strong has worked with dogs and horses for most of her life and developed the first puppy socialisation classes in South Yorkshire. She is an international speaker and is well known for her work in the assistance dog training industry, and is a pioneer in training dogs for people with epilepsy and other complex medical conditions.
Breakthrough is a result of Val’s lifetime of study and research into diet and behaviour.
Vicky PayneBVetMed MRCVS
Vicky qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2001 and works as a Holistic Vet in East Sussex. Whilst working in general practice Vicky has undertaken additional training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and companion animal behaviour and training. She combines conventional medicine and surgery with acupuncture, herbal medicine, behaviour, and dietary changes to improve pets’ physical and mental wellbeing. Vicky also runs canine first aid courses for pet professionals and pet owners. When not working Vicky enjoys walking and training her English Springer Spaniels, and somehow finds time to swim and ride horses. Vicky is proud to be a patron of English Springer Spaniel Welfare and a trustee for Canine Concern (a charity which offers dog visits to care homes, schools, and even courts).
Sarah FisherBreakthrough Ambassador
Sarah Fisher is a Tellington TTouch Instructor, dog trainer, horse trainer and canine and equine behaviour counsellor/advisor. She has worked with dogs for over twenty years. She is experienced with a wide range of breed types and teaches staff workshops for many of the UK’s animal shelters including Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, the Mayhew Animal Home, and Dogs Trust. She has worked in Europe teaching staff workshops for shelters including SPCA Malta, GIA (Romania) and has taught in Holland, Greece, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, South Africa, Ireland, Romania and Poland as well as lecturing at dog training and behaviour seminars in the UK. She also conducts temperament and behaviour assessments for private clients, dog shelters and court cases.
Ross TiffinVeterinary Marketing and Strategy Consultant
Following a career in human pharma and with Colgate Palmolive, Ross then entered the veterinary field by launching Hill’s Pet Nutrition in the UK in the 1980s and, over a ten year period, became commercial director for Northern Europe. He has also been a director of a leading healthcare advertising agency where his interest in consumer behaviour first started.
Shelley Audis-RiddelMSc CertCAN (QCF Level 3)
Shelley has over 15 years of experience with animals and, since 2004, has worked at Oscar Pet Foods. She is a member of the OSCAR Helpline Team, working as the company’s Pet Behaviour & Training Expert, offering bespoke advice to pet owners, up and down the country. Shelley is also an OSCAR Nutritional Advisor, responsible for offering pet owners important nutritional advice for their pets. Shelley also holds a Certificate in Companion Animal Nutrition CertCAN (QCF Level 3).
Shelley has also run a successful dog behaviour and training business for over 10 years. Shelley owns a gorgeous Sprocker Spaniel called Alfie, who takes the credit for teaching her so much about dog ownership, behaviour and training.
